First-ever platinum field discovered in Azerbaijan
BAKU – Azerbaijan’s first-ever platinum field holding projected reserves of 80-100 tons of the precious metal has been discovered in the western part of the country, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyn Bagirov told the press Friday.
Bagirov added that the discovery in the Shamkir region being a platinum deposit has been confirmed as a result of tests carried out at laboratories based in Russia, Canada and other countries.
