Nearly 10,000 expats to get Azeri work permits this year
BAKU – 9,815 foreign nationals will be granted work permits in Azerbaijan this year, according to the labor ministry.
Rauf Taghiyev, who heads the ministry’s department on migration, said the government’s quota envisions the most jobs in the domestic construction sector. He explained the need for expatriate workforce in this field with the large-scale infrastructure projects being implemented in Azerbaijan.
"There is not a sufficient number of Azerbaijani citizens meeting the requirements that are taken as a basis for these jobs," Taghiyev said.
The labor ministry official added that the oil sector is next to the construction sector for the number of jobs set in this year’s quota.
