Azeri, Kazakh trade on recovery path after global crunch
BAKU – The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan dropped in 2009 in light of the world financial crisis but the gap will be closed this year, Kazakh Ambassador in Baku Serik Primbetov told reporters.
According to him, bilateral trade nearly halved in 2009. "But over the nine months of 2010 we managed to achieve previous figures by posting $257 million."
The ambassador said that as before, the Kazakh-Azerbaijani commodities turnover is dominated by oil, oil field equipment, grain and other agricultural goods.
Primbetov noted that Kazakh grain supplies to Azerbaijan almost quadrupled in January-September to 963,000 tons.
He added that the two countries were looking into the possibility of exporting Azerbaijani agricultural products to the Central Asian state.
