Azerbaijan leaps in EIU microfinance ranking
BAKU – Azerbaijan is among the countries developing the most in 2010, according to a new global microfinance ranking from the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).
Following legislative amendments, the country leaped from the bottom rankings to the 38th spot, which it shares with China.
As for Azerbaijan’s neighbors, Georgia ranked 21st, while Armenia 22nd, said the report, entitled The Global Microscope on the Microfinance Business Environment.
Peru has topped the charts as Microscope's best rated country for the third year in a row.
The top ten countries include five Latin American, two African and three Asian economies.
