Aliyev cites prospects for further co-op with Islamic bank

The conduct of the 35th annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Board of Governors in Baku is of great importance, President Ilham Aliyev, who chairs the meeting, has said.
Addressing the two-day meeting that started on Wednesday, President Aliyev said IDB and Azerbaijan have been successfully cooperating for many years.
"There are great prospects for our cooperation. Projects being implemented in Azerbaijan are successfully being executed through the bank…I think this collaboration will continue to develop successfully in the future."
According to the president, though Azerbaijan is "a young country", it is successfully and actively interacting with numerous international organizations, including the Organization for Islamic Conference (OIC).
"Our cooperation successfully continues with OIC member countries in the economic, political, cultural, and humanitarian fields. We are working in all facets to make a contribution to the cooperation between Muslim countries."
President Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan is on the right path and is pursuing the road of market economy-based development.
"There is economic and political stability in the country. In a place without stability, growth is out of the question. Disruption of stability immediately translates into negative outcomes. We have big targets ahead of us. We want to see Azerbaijan included in the ranks of developed countries. And results are already there. On economic sustainability Azerbaijan ranks first in CIS and 51th in the world. We have efficiently availed of our energy resources. We are applying the principle of transparency in our finance system. The State Oil Fund is a very transparent entity. Azerbaijan’s energy resources will enable us to boost our economy for many years to come."*
