UNIDO head to discuss co-op in Baku
Kandeh Yumkella, Director-General of United Nations Industrial
Development Organization (UNIDO), is due to arrive in Azerbaijan on
June 28.
According to the Azerbaijani embassy in Austria, during the three-day visit, discussions will focus on extending the framework program on cooperation implemented by Azerbaijan and the UN agency from 2005-2010. Also in spotlight will be ways of boosting the South Caucasus republic’s non-oil sector, as well as cooperation in such fields as high technologies, environmental protection and economic diversification.
Yumkella also acts as the UN coordinator for energy, and energy issues will be on the agenda during his Baku visit as well.
