Azercell presents its refreshed brand
Azercell, the leading cellular operator in Azerbaijan, on Saturday
presented its renewed corporate brand reflecting the company’s
being part of a strong group of leading mobile operators in the
entire Eurasia region.
Azercell Telecom LLC’s brand refreshment is part of a regional initiative aiming at harmonization of brand identities of several leading mobile operators in the Eurasia region, which are consolidated subsidiaries of TeliaSonera, one of the largest telecommunication companies in Europe.
"For nearly 14 years now, Azercell has been pioneering the development of the mobile communication industry in Azerbaijan, bringing to the country the latest technologies, know-how and the most modern equipment from globally renowned vendors, thus helping Azerbaijan in building a globally competitive world-class telecommunication infrastructure," Azercell Telecom CEO Ali Agan said. "Azercell was the first to introduce in Azerbaijan not only innovative GSM technologies, but also new business concepts, such as 7/24 customer service, one-stop shopping and many more."
The refreshed brand reflects Azercell’s corporate values which are: being a pioneer in the market, reliability, agility in response to the market and consumer needs, social responsibility and the aspiration to be an integral part of Azerbaijan. The redesigned Azercell logo includes a new brand symbol in the shape of a high-tech stone in rich purple color.
Halim Ates, Vice-President and Regional Head of Caucasian Region for TeliaSonera Eurasia, said Azercell’s 2G network covers just below 100% of Azerbaijan’s population and the company is fully prepared to start providing 3G services in the near future upon receipt of the respective license.
Azercell’s managing shareholder TeliaSonera was the first operator in the world to commercially launch 4G services in Stockholm and Oslo, the capitals of Sweden and Norway, in December 2009.
All the 38 customer care front offices and Azercell Express offices, as well as thousands points of sale changed their look overnight to meet customers with the new purple design on the morning of May 15. The improved design of Azercell service centers combines a high-tech approach, comfort of the nature, and a friendly atmosphere for a better customer experience, the company said.
Azercell Telecom LLC was established in January 1996 with a state shareholding and began its commercial operation as the first GSM operator in Azerbaijan on December 15, 1996. Azercell has kept its market leadership since the first year of operation. Azercell’s 2G network covers close to 100% of Azerbaijan’s population and about 80% of the territory. As of March 31, 2010, Azercell was number one mobile operator in Azerbaijan with 4 million subscriptions.
TeliaSonera provides telecommunication services in the Nordic and Baltic countries, the emerging markets of Eurasia, including Russia and Turkey, and in Spain. TeliaSonera is now in 20 markets with close to 460 million inhabitants. The number of subscriptions in 2009 reached around 150 million.*
