2009 successful for AGBank
The year 2009 was successful for AGBank, one of the fastest-growing
Azerbaijani banks, an AGBank executive has said.
Afghan Jalilov, who heads AGBank’s Development Department, said the amount of deposits held by private individuals increased by around 20 million manats ($25 million) last year. Deposits totaled 82m manats ($102.5m) by the year-end. Deposits drawn from citizens rose 31% throughout the year. "This indicates the bank’s high image and stability," Jalilov said.
According to him, AGBank continued cooperating with international financial institutions in 2009. An agreement was signed with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank's private-sector lender, on assuming a subordinated debt commitment worth $10m.
Another success of AGBank was introducing a Hotel-Express International card, a new product in the country’s banking market. The card allows to significantly reduce customers’ travel expenses, as it offers a 50% discount for accommodation in over 9,000 hotels around the world.
Jalilov said AGBank also introduced the one-of-the-kind MasterCard World Signia in 2009. The program, which provides exclusive services to its holder, is universal for problem-solving, and it is enough to call the phone number indicated on it. The customer is able to order any services using the card – from reserving elite restaurants or buying tickets to any events to purchasing a yacht and the delivery of presents.
Touching on AGBank’s plans for 2010, Jalilov said the bank plans to begin using the Т24 program made by the Swiss banking software provider Temenos, which will contribute to improving a number of its services. The advantages of the new system will allow adjusting new banking products and services to the ever-changing needs of the customer and increase the efficiency of banking transactions. *
