Azeri beer producer eyes Turkmen market
The Baku-based beer producer, Baltika-Baku, is considering Turkmenistan as a market for exports, the company said.
Baltika-Baku has increased production capacity to 10 million deciliters per year and begun exporting its products to neighboring countries. The company started exporting beer to Georgia in 2009. More than 40,000 liters have been supplied to this country, and, by the end of the year this figure will reach 400,000 liters, the company said in a statement.
"Baltika-Baku is also considering Turkmenistan as a possible export direction. Production for export enables the plant to retain jobs in the conditions of the overall reduction of the Azerbaijani beer market in 2009," Baltika-Baku said.
In 2009, Baltika had a major reconstruction in the Azerbaijani production platform. Total investments at the end of the investment program were approximately $20 million.
A brewing technique, six Forfas, 12 cylinder-conical tanks (CCT), four bottling lines (in PET packaging, jar, glass bottle and kegs) provides the plant's production capacity at 10 million deciliters per year. All equipment that has been installed at the Baltika-Baku enterprise was produced by the world's leading companies, such as Krones AG, Gea Brewery Systems Gmbh, Filtrox AG, Ring Crown, Pall Gmbh, etc.
Baltika brands currently account for 73 percent of the domestic beer market. The company produces such brands as Khirdalan, Afsana, Bizim, and 33 Export. Production of brands of the Baltika brand line has been launched, beginning with Baltika №3, Baltika №5, Baltika №7, Baltika Kuler, as well as the Arsenalnoye brand.
The brewery based in Khirdalan, 10 km away from the capital Baku, has almost 40-year history and has changed several names in the past years. Since January 2009, Khirdalan brewery continues operating as Baku-Baltika. Baltika had completed purchasing the brewery in Azerbaijan in August 2008. As a result, Baltika became the owner of a 90 percent stake in Baku-Kastel brewery. Baltika-Baku is the first plant opened by Baltika outside Russia.*
