Azerbaijan turning into ‘middle-income country’
Azerbaijan is confidently advancing toward the
status of a middle-income country, the central banker told a Milli
Majlis (parliament) session on Tuesday.
Elman Rustamov, chairman of the Central Bank steering board, cited economic figures indicating the South Caucasus republic’s rampant growth. Azerbaijan’s per capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP) amounts to $7,000, which is the low grade of a middle-income state.
"The main task facing Azerbaijan is to turn into a middle-income country ranked on the top grade in the next five to seven years," Rustamov added.*
