President Ilham Aliyev on Tuesday attended the groundbreaking of a hard waste processing plant to be built in the Balakhany settlement of Baku.
The president was informed that a land plot covering 20 hectares has been designated for construction operations at the Balakhany waste ground. France’s CNIM S.A. (Constructions Industrielles de la Mediterranee S.A.), one of the world’s leading companies in environmental protection and energy production, which has won a relevant tender, will build the facility.
The plant, with annual capacity allowing to burn 500,000 tons of waste and generate 231 million KWt/hr of electricity in the process, will be constructed in accord with up-to-date technologies and European Union standards.*
