The new railway station in Sabunchu settlement of Azerbaijan’s
Baku city will be put into operation on May 10, Javid Gurbanov,
chairman of the Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, said, Trend reports on
March 15.
Gurbanov said that the second route will open from the Sabunchu
settlement to Baku’s center.
“The work which is being carried out on the railway from Baku to
Sumgait city will be completed till the end of this year,” he
added. "For this purpose, railcars were ordered. Earlier, it took
half an hour to get from Sabunchu to Baku’s center, but soon it
will take ten minutes. The trains will run at short intervals every
hour.”
He also added that big work is being carried out on the Absheron
ring railway line, so the project will be implemented later.
"The railway line is crossed by roads,” Gurbanov said.
“Therefore, we try for all crossings to be underground to ensure
the convenience and safety of passengers."
