As a result of a 23-year operation of the Filizchay polymetallic deposit, rich in metals such as copper, silver, zinc and lead, it is expected to receive income in the amount of 6 billion manats ($3.53 billion).
The statement was made during a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources in the geological camp of the Filizchay field of the Kokhnamadan site, located in the Balakan region.
The meeting discussed the results of preliminary studies at the strategically important Filizchay polymetallic deposit not only for Azerbaijan, but also for Europe.
Chairman of the Board of AzerGold Zakir Ibrahimov reported that a preliminary assessment document on the Filizchay field is under development by the influential international consulting company SRK Consulting and will be completed before the end of this year.
He went on to say that after additional drilling works, metallurgical tests, engineering-geological and hydrological studies are carried out on the territory of the field, a feasibility study document will be developed that will allow clarifying relevant information, adding that the refinement of the data will increase the possibility of increasing the profitability of the project of field operation.
It was also discussed the digitization of geological data for all the mines of precious and non-ferrous metals in the country, the improvement of national legislation in the field of the mining industry and coordinated activities in this direction.
AzerGold CJSC started operating in July, 2016 and is engaged in studying, research, investigation, management of deposits of precious and non-ferrous metals, their production, processing and sale, and also application of new technologies in this sphere, improvement of material and technical base and implementation of other work related to development of this sphere.
Azerbaijan has its rich gold deposits. Gold mostly is produced in Dashkasan (AzerGold CJSC) and in Gadabay (Anglo-Asian Mining, Britain) regions of the country.
About 900 fields were registered in Azerbaijan’s state and territorial balance of reserves of mineral resources. The Ministry for Ecology and Natural Recourses estimates that the country is able to produce about 10-15 tons of gold per year.
