LSE aids Azeri companies in world market entry
The London Stock Exchange has used a roundtable on
Azeri business organized by the International Bank of Azerbaijan to
invite local companies to the LSE-operated Alternative Investment
Market (AIM).
According to John Edwards, CIS Manager, during a recent visit to Baku, discussions were held with the Baku Stock Exchange on cooperation in the development of domestic capital markets and introduction of Azeri companies to international markets.
"Today only 5% of Azeri companies are interested in this, while in the UK, the figure is no less than 20-25%. AIM is the most suitable for local companies entering world markets, with lower costs estimated at 3-6%, against 18-19% for attracted loans. In our opinion, there are many companies in Azerbaijan ready to enter AIM and conduct IPOs", Edwards said.
