Investment in Azeri economy down
Investment in the Azerbaijani economy has fallen. In
the first half of 2009, the volume of investment decreased by 7.1%
to 3.375 billion manats ($4.2 billion). 82.4% of this amount was
channeled to domestic sources, the State Statistics Committee
reports.
Particularly sharp has been the decline in foreign investments - down by 63%. Almost half of foreign investments are from the UK.
Experts attribute the decrease in investments to the global economic recession that has affected economies worldwide.
