Agriculture to grow by over 7% this year
While a 6.1% increase was observed in agricultural
production last year, the growth in agriculture has reached 4.3% in
the first quarter of 2009, Agriculture Minister Ismat Abbasov has
said.
Abbasov added that since most of the production was expected in the second and third quarters, this year`s growth would exceed that of last year. It is forecast to be at least 7%.
The minister added that the demand for some products would be fully met on account of local production.
At present, Azerbaijan is capable of meeting 90-95% of its needs.
