France, the leading country in Europe for volume of investment, invites foreign investors, including those from Azerbaijan, to invest in the country.

French Ambassador to Baku Aurelia Bouchez announced about this at a presentation on investments opportunities of France within the “Investment month in France”.

“France is a country attractive for investors. Investing in France would be good a experience for Azerbaijan,” the ambassador said, noting that Azerbaijan is an important country for France. “Investing in the French economy will allow Azerbaijan to diversify its economy, gain new experience. It would be mutually beneficial”

Stressing that the two countries have close relations, Bouchez added that both Azerbaijani and French officials frequently pay high-level mutual visits.

Bouchez further noted that investments in France will open the way to the markets of the European Union. Moreover, investors will have the opportunity to use the full potential of the French infrastructure.

The ambassador mentioned that more than 40 French companies currently work in Azerbaijan. “The greatest activity is observed in the transport, agriculture and space sectors. We want to continue expansion of our activities in Azerbaijan,” Bouchez said.

Many French companies are involved in the oil and gas projects in Azerbaijan as subcontractors. At the same time, French companies participate in the non-oil sectors' projects, including the first Azerbaijani telecommunications satellite Azerspace, and a plant for solid waste recycling.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and France in January-September 2016 amounted to $547.67 million. The turnover of 2015 exceeded $1 billion, according to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.

Some 12 Azerbaijani cities signed a cooperation agreement with 10 cities and one province in France. The mutual cooperation is expected to bring even more benefits for both Azerbaijan and France.
