Evercore hires Goldman Sachs’s Tom Stokes for technology deals

By Bloomberg
Evercore Partners Inc., the merger-advisory firm founded by Roger Altman, hired Tom Stokes from Goldman Sachs Group Inc. to work on technology deals.
Stokes is joining as a senior managing director based in New York, Evercore said in a statement Tuesday. He advised on semiconductor, electronics and industrial technology deals while at Goldman Sachs, according to the statement.
Evercore last month hired Anil Rachwani from JPMorgan Chase & Co. to expand its technology practice from London. The New York-based company has worked on deals including Hewlett-Packard & Co.’s $2.5 billion purchase of Aruba Networks Inc. this year, and the 2013 buyout of Dell Inc.
“Tom’s extensive experience, broad network of relationships across multiple technology sectors, and his reputation for integrity and providing sound, objective advice to some of the most notable companies in his sector, make him an excellent addition to our team,” Chief Executive Director Ralph Schlosstein said in the statement.
Stokes received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Cambridge University and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He worked for Goldman Sachs for more than a decade, according to the statement.
A representative from New York-based Goldman Sachs didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
