Armenian parliament acts as puppet theater

Democratic states usually share power between executive, legislative and court branches of the government. Each branch takes on its duties and impartially carries out it.

Armenia is not among that countries as its unbalanced share of power tackles progress almost in every fields. The fact that the executive power in Armenia controls the 95% of the legislative activity, while parliament has only 5% share in the process sheds light to anti-democratic statehood in Armenia.

Secretary of the parliamentary fraction Armenian national congress Aram Manukyan said that the parliamentary majority acts not on their own will, but obeys to the authority.

"About 77 bills were quickly discussed by the parliament to avoid the members to get acquainted with them. That's actually a record and the most serious evaluation of the current situation in the Armenian parliament," Manukyan added.

Members of the ruling Republican party represented at the National Council are just "buttons" to vote in favor of all bills presented by the authority, underlined Manukyan.

Aram Manukyan went on saying that there are 36 member of parliament from the Republican party that are paid to keep silence and say nothing on bills.

Armenian legislative body became a puppet in the hands of Serzh Sargsyan's authority. Parliament is filled with politicians abiding by the ruling regime and not aware of their real duty.

In other words, parliamentarians in Armenia are just tools to serve the will of ruling elite.

Yesterday's opening session of the Armenian parliament staged a lot of interesting moments.

Members of the parliament were seemed to missed a great deal for each other after the summer vacation. Some of them hugged, while others delivered air kiss.

Closed eyes and active mobile phones of some other parliamentarians during discussions added special tone to the "puppet" National Council of Armenia.

Taking a sit at parliament and getting monthly salary now seem to be the main duty of the legislators. Maybe that's why a few kept gazing at the clock to see when the session would end and open exit door from the chamber.

Most probably, lunch break was the most anticipated part of the day for Armenian parliamentarians. Cafeteria of the National Council building flocked with barbecue lover legislators who rushed intoxicated by the inviting smile of the roasted meat.

An answer of Manvel Grigoryan, an MP from the Republican Party, to a question "So you're also fleeing the trenches?" was quite adequate. "Damn you, what kind of question is that?" the "runaway" parliamentarian said to the reporter.

Weak attendance of MPs is a great concern for President Sargsyan, who attributed the absentee legislators to soldiers fleeing the trenches.

Majority of Armenian legislators hold by the ruling Republican party members have dual job in the chamber -- to eat and push their voting buttons, oftentimes to push the 'yes' button in favor of government bills. Note that in most cases they even don't have any information about the bill. Pushing the "yes" button is their obligation defined by the Republican party authority, in other words by President Sargsyan.

At the same time, "no" function of their voting button serves to reject the bills introduced by the opposition.

The Armenian parliament resembles a theater stage and parliamentarians the actors who take every step in line with the predefined scenario.

In fact, tyrannic rule of government reigns in Armenia, while democracy is just a mask to hide it. Parliament under considerable influence of Sargsyan's "mercenaries" prepare and approve the bills in the country. And it compares Armenia to a shop where seller and customer is the same person.
