Azerbaijani gymnasts successfully perform in Bulgaria

The Azerbaijani gymnast, Oleg Stepko won the gold medal in theWorld Challenge Cup in artistic gymnastics, which was held during the weekend in the Bulgarian city of Varna.

Stepko rose to the pedestal of honor with his favorite projectile – parallel bars – and gained first place.

Moreover, Stepko gained two silver medals for the exercise on the horse and vault. On the exercise on the bar, he stopped a step away from the bronze.

Also, Azerbaijani team joined the World Cup in acrobatic gymnastics running in the same city. Women's and men's groups, pairs and mixed pairs compete for the medals.

Azerbaijani acrobats Elchin Alibayov and Emin Gulmammadli (men’s pair), Anatoly Leonov and Uliana Diakova (mixed pair) and a women's group of Aynur Huseynova, Narmin Ramazanova and Lala Huseynova represented country at this competition.

Although all Azerbaijani acrobats reached the final round they were not able to bring home a medal.

Alibayov and Gyulmammedli gained sixth place in women's group; while Leonov and Dyakov, in their turn, took eighth place.

At the same time with the World Cup Varna hosted an international tournament in acrobatic gymnastics among juniors. This tournament has brought six medals to Azerbaijani team. The mixed pair of Agasif Rahimov and Nurjan Jabbarli won two "gold" and one "silver" medals. Men's pair of Murad Akbarov - Seymur Jafarov also remembered with their successful performance, finishing third three times in a row.

Moreover, the French city of Clermont-Ferrand hosted an international competition in aerobic gymnastics. Here our group took third place, and mixed pair (Vera Bosykh - Vladimir Dolmatov) became the fourth. Another mixed pair of Elchin Mammadov and Aynur Jabbarli took fifth place, as well as Dolmatov (individual exercise).
