Azerbaijan's duo wins silver at Winter Universiade

Azerbaijan's athletes won silver medals at the 27th Trentino Winter Universiade, which is being held in Italy on December 11-21.
Figure skating duo Julia Zlobina and Alexei Sitnikov secured the second place after scoring a total of 142.66 points for the two programs of the competition.
French athletes Pernelle Carron and Lloyd Jones became the champions of the Universiade, gaining 153.65 points, while Russian figure skaters Victoria Sinitsyna and Ruslan Zhiganshin won bronze medals gaining 142.50 points.
Earlier, the Azerbaijani figure skating duo won the 46th Golden Spin international tournament, which was held in Zagreb, Croatia.
Zlobina paired with Sitnikov won the championship of Estonia in 2011. Furthermore Zlobina is the bronze medalist of the 2011 Ondrej Nepela Memorial. Together with Alexei Sitnikov she won the license for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi on the results of the World Championships in Canadian London in March, 2013.
The Universiade is an international multi-sport event organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The name is a combination of the words "University" and "olympiad".
The first official World Student Games - Universiade - were organized in 1924 and the tournament has been held under the auspices of FISU since 1949. An alternative event was arranged by the International Union of Students (IUS) in 1947-1962, including unofficial Games, in 1954.
