Azerbaijan scoop 24 medals at international tournament

The final stage of the two-day Golden Grand Prix international wrestling tournament came to an end in Baku on November 24.
The tournament was dedicated to the memory of Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Azerbaijani wrestlers demonstrating confident performances
gained 24 medals, including 9 gold medals at the Golden Grand Prix
international tournament.
In the Greco-Roman competition, Kamran Mammadov weighing in at
60kg, Rasul Chunayev at 66kg, Rafig Huseynov at 74kg, Saman
Tahmasibi at 84kg, and Sabahi Sariat at 120kg won gold medals.
Orkhan Ahmadov weighing in at 60kg and Vitaly Rahimov at 66kg
gained silvers, while Eldaniz Azizli, Taleh Mammadov, and Shahriyar
Mammadov gained bronze medals in the 55kg, 60kg and 84kg weight
classes respectively.
In women`s competition, Yuliya Ratkevich weighing in at 59kg
received gold medal, while Anjela Dorogan and Ragnetta Gurbanzade
claimed bronze medals in the 48kg and 63kg classes
respectively.
Azerbaijani freestyle wrestlers Ahmadnabi Gvarzatilov weighing in
at 60kg, Gamzat Osmanov at 84kg, and Khetag Gazyumov at 96kg won
gold medals of the tournament.
Yashar Aliyev, Haji Aliyev, Sharif Sharifov and Ali Isayev gained
silvers in the 55kg, 60kg, 96kg and 120kg classes respectively.
Other freestyle wrestler Ruslan Dibirhajiyev weighing in at
66kg, Jabrayil Hajiyev and Ashraf Aliyev both at 74kg and
Jamaladdin Mahammadov at 120kg won bronze medals.
Some 400 athletes from 33 countries took part in the tournament.
Since 2008, the final stage of the Golden Grand Prix international
tournament has been held in Baku.
According to the results of the last 6 years, Azerbaijani wrestlers have won a total of 129 medals (42 gold, 32 silver and 55 bronze) at the finals of the international tournament.
