Azerbaijan wins int'l kickboxing tournament

"Azerbaijan versus the Rest of the World" professional international kickboxing tournament, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev, ended with a victory of the Azerbaijani team on September 22.

Members of the Azerbaijani team and selected kickboxers representing 10 countries participated in the tournament, which was held in the Olympic sports complex "Serhedchi" in Baku and organized by the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Azerbaijan's National Olympic Committee, Azerbaijan Kickboxing Federation, and World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO) jointly with Akkord Industry Construction Investment Corporation JSC.

Azerbaijan was represented by Zabit Samadov, Shakir Khalilov, Elnur Daryagir, Anar Mammadov, Zamig Atakishiyev, Eduard Mammadov, Turan Gafarov, Araz Pirmammadov, Ramal Aslanov, Parviz Abdullayev, Khayal Ahmadov and Aghalar Sadigzade.

The most exciting fight took place between Azerbaijan's Zabit Samadov and Serbian athlete Dragan Jovanovich.

The tournament brought together not only world-class athletes but also well-known sports, policy and business representatives who were part of the audience.

At the end of the tournament, the management of the Azerbaijan Kickboxing Federation expressed its gratitude to the organizers and sponsors for their contribution to the development of sports in Azerbaijan.
