Azerbaijani Paralympic athletes will join IBSA Goalball European Championships in the British city Worcester on September 4-9.

According to the National Paralympic Committee (NPC), Azerbaijani team will leave for the UK on September 3. Before leaving, President of the NPC Ilgar Rahimov watched the training of athletes and wished them success.

Goalball is a team sport designed specifically for blind athletes, originally devised in 1946 by the Austrian Hans Lorenzen and German Sepp Reindle as a means of assisting the rehabilitation of visually impaired World War II veterans. International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA), responsible for a range of sports for the blind and partially sighted, is the official governing body for the sport.

The black armband on eyes is being used to make opponents equal. Each team should have three major and three replacement players. The goal is to send a special ringing ball into the opponent's net.
