National wrestlers win four medals in Minsk

Azerbaijani wrestlers grab two gold, one silver and one bronze medal at the International Greco-Roman wrestling tournament in memory of Oleg Karavayev in Minsk, Belarus, on September 17-19.

The national team won two medals under the guidance of head coach Shaban Donat and coaches Rovshan Bayramov on the third day of the competition.

In addition, Murad Mammadov (60 kg) won Armenian Artur Petrosyan, the representative of Russia in the final and became the champion. In the final, Islam Abbasov (87 kg) was defeated by Hungarian Viktor Lorints and claimed silver medal.

Earlier, Taleh Mammadov (63 kg) won gold and Rafig Huseynov (82 kg) won the bronze medal in the tournament.

The national team attended to the tournament with eight wrestlers, and Elman Ismayilov was also among the judges in the tournament.

The tournament brings together over 150 athletes from 15 countries; Azerbaijan, Belarus, Hungary, Georgia, Israel, Kazakhstan, China, Latvia, Lithuania, Peru, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, France and Croatia.

Moreover, this is also a control review and the main rehearsal before the planetary championship, which will be held in Budapest from October 20 to 28.
