Azerbaijani kempo fighters have successfully competed in the 10th European Championships in Romania.

Some 600 athletes from 22 countries took part in the championship, Trend Life reported.

Azerbaijan was represented by eight fighters.

The tournaments were held in the following directions: Kempo Submishn, Kempo Full and Kempo Semi.

Valeh Guliyev became the winner in the weight category of 95 kg in Kempo Full.

Silver medalists include Vusal Galandarov (+95 kg) and Nijat Huseynov (75 kg) in Kempo Semi.

The bronze medal came from Shamsi Huseynov ( 60kg) in Kempo Semi and Khayal Mammadzade (75 kg) and Mahir Alakparov (65 kg) in Kempo Submishn.

Azerbaijani team placed third in the medal standings.

Kempo as the term used as a general name for all martial arts, regardless of ethnicity.

The training methods are divided into three parts: self-defense training, mental training, and health training. The basis are the concepts that "spirit and body are not separable and that it is integral to "train both body and spirit".

The 2nd Eurasian Kempo Championship will kick off in the Shagan Olympic Sport Complex in Baku on March 25-26.

The championship will be held in different age (children, youths, adults), weight categories and the following directions: Full-Kempo, Kempo Submission (Grappling Gi-Foot), Semi Kempo, Self Defense (self defense) and Kempo PRO.

Azerbaijani kempo fighters achieved success in European level.

Last year, Azerbaijani kempo fighters have claimed a clutch of five gold medals at the World Martial Arts Games in Batumi, Georgia.

Moreover, Azerbaijani kempo fighters won three medals at the European Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
