National taekwondo fighters to compete at World Grand Prix

The 2017 World Grand Prix will be held in Moscow, Russia on August 4-6.

The tournament will bring together 220 athletes from 53 countries including 14 gold medalists from the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2017 World Championships, to compete for Olympic ranking points, cash prizes and sporting glory.

Azerbaijani taekwondo fighters will also contest medals at the tournament, Azertac reported.

National squad includes Gashim Magomedov (58kg), Mahammad Mammadov (68kg), Aykhan Taghizade (68kg), Ramin Azizov (80kg) and Farida Azizova (67kg).

The gold medalist in each category wins $5,000; the silver medalist takes home $3,000; and the two bronzes medalists are enriched with $1,000 each.

Further, competition will be held in Morocco, Great Britain and the final round will be held in the Ivory Coast.

The award ceremonies will be held on both days, after all weight categories have been contested.
