Three Azerbaijani judokas have topped the International Judo Federation's world ranking.

Rustam Orujov (73kg), Orkhan Safarov (60kg) and Elmar Gasimov (100kg) are first in their categories, Azertac reported.

In 2015, at the Grand Prix in Georgia, Orujov won the gold medal. In 2016 he became the champion of Europe.

Rustam Orujov also tops Prestige World Ranking with 3,010 points.

Orkhan Safarov won the bronze at the 2013 World Judo Championships in the category -60 kg.

Elmar Gasimov competed at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics and won a silver medal in 2016.

He also won a gold medal at the 2009 European Youth Championship in Yerevan, after defeating Lukáš Krpálek in the final.

Rustam Orujov (73 kg) and Elmar Gasimov are the silver medalists of the 31st summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
