Turkish National Security Council meeting ends

A meeting of Turkey’s National Security Council has wrapped up.

The meeting lasted for four hours and 40 minutes, said a source close to the presidency, on condition of anonymity, Anadolu Agency reported July 20.

Following the meeting, the Council of Ministers is expected to gather.

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said July 19 "an important decision" will be announced after the meetings.

On July 15 evening, Turkish authorities said a military coup attempt took place in the country.

Meanwhile, a group of servicemen announced about transition of power to them.
However, the rebelling servicemen started to surrender July 16 and Turkish authorities said the coup attempt failed.

More than 200 people have been killed as a result of the coup attempt.
