Turkmenistan OKs bill on protection of atmospheric air
Turkmenistan’s parliament has adopted a law ‘On protection of atmospheric air’, the Turkmen government reported on March 30.
The document sets the legal and organizational framework for protection of air from emissions and aims to ensure the environmental safety, prevent the harmful effects of economic and other activities on the environment and human health.
Earlier, as a result of environmental measures taken in Turkmenistan, the main ozone-depleting substances (ODS) were withdrawn from the circulation.
Turkmenistan joined a number of environmental conventions of the UN, including the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer in 1993.
