Iran preparing to present `gas OPEC` project
Iran has developed a project on establishing an Organization of
Petroleum Exporting Countries dealing with gas exports, its OPEC
representative, Muhammad Ali Khatibi, has said.
The draft will be presented at a ministerial of gas-exporting countries to be held in Moscow on December 23.
Khatibi voiced hope that the project would be endorsed in the soonest time possible, to be followed by the set-up of a structured and headquartered international group. He noted that fluctuations in prices for energy resources and lack of balance in demand for them necessitates creating such an organization. It will allow gas exporters to closely cooperate with each other and adopt coordinated decisions.
