Turkey has no plans to introduce visa regime with Georgia – Georgian FM
Turkey and Georgia at this stage have no plans to introduce a visa regime, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Mikheil Janelidze told reporters before the meeting of the government Jan.8, Sputnik international news agency reported.
On Jan. 7, a number of Turkish media outlets reported that Turkey will introduce visa regime with 89 countries, including Georgia, since June 2016 at the request of the European Union.
“We don’t see any necessity, or such circumstances that could change the current visa regime between the two countries,” Janelidze said.
In accordance with the existing rules, Georgian citizens may enter the territory of Turkey using an internal passport.
Georgian Ambassador to Turkey Irakli Koplatadze said that such misinformation appeared due to the fact that Turkey and the EU are discussing rules for a visa-free regime.
