Iran, Russia ink air transportation MOU
Iran and Russia signed a memorandum of understanding in Moscow to boost cooperation in the air transportation sector, said Mehdi Sanaei, the Iranian ambassador to Moscow.
Based on the MOU, the two sides will launch air transportation routes between the two countries without limitation, IRNA news agency quoted Sanaei as saying on July 8.
Increasing the number of flights and destinations is among objectives of the MOU, he added.
Iran will launch new flights to different destinations in Europe within the next few months, Deputy Head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization Mohammad Khodakarami said July 7.
There is no problem for increasing the number of flights by both domestic and foreign airlines in international routes, he added.
The Civil Aviation Organization is planning to update its
memorandums of understanding with other countries in order to boost
the number of weekly flights with equal shares of flights for the
two sides, he added.
Some 65 percent of regional and international flights are operated
by domestic airlines, he noted.
