Turkmenistan seeks to up oil output

Turkmenistan is keen on bringing the oil production in 2015 up to 11.11 million metric tons, the country’s state-run concern Turkmennebit reported.

The company said Turkmenistan this year plans to increase the oil production by 2.9 percent as compared to the same period of the last year.

Currently, Turkmennebit operates about 30 fields that include over 600 oil, oil and gas, and gas deposits at different stages of development.

Earlier, it was reported that the state concern is holding extensive geological exploration works at the ‘North Goturdepe’ field on the Turkmen shelf of the Caspian Sea.

The resources of the Caspian Sea’s Turkmen shelf are estimated at 12 billion metric tons of oil and 6.5 trillion cubic meters of gas, while a number of contract areas located at medium and large depths, were put up for international tender.
