Iran’s foreign policy head has called on the P5+1 should set forth new comprehensive proposals during the upcoming talks with Iran over the country's nuclear program.

Mohammad Javad Zarif said his country is ready to achieve good results on all issues, however noting that they will see if the other side is ready or not, IRNA news agency reported on January 14.

Achieving a nuclear agreement needs political will as well as courage, Zarif said, adding the decision for settlement of the Iran’s nuclear issue can improve all regional equations.

Zarif emphasized that Iran has on numerous occasions showed that it has the will to achieve a nuclear agreement.

He also said Iran is determined not to give up its peaceful nuclear rights, arguing that the western side should stop proposing useless new redlines.

Zarif and John Kerry, the U.S. Secretary of State held a meeting in Geneva on January 14.The Iranian and American delegations will continue their bilateral negotiations until January 17. Iran will also hold bilateral meetings with other members of the P5+1.

The next round of negotiations with P5+1 (five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) is scheduled for January 18 in Geneva.

The disputed issues in the nuclear discussions include the future extent of Tehran’s uranium enrichment as well as a timetable for the removal of anti-Iran sanctions.

Nuclear negotiators from Iran and the P5+1 wrapped up their latest round of talks on Tehran’s nuclear program in Geneva on December 17, 2014.

The Geneva discussions were held almost three weeks after Tehran and the six countries failed to reach a final agreement by a November 24 deadline despite making some progress.

The two sides agreed to extend their discussions for seven more months until July 1, 2015. They also agreed that the interim deal they had signed in Geneva in November 2013 should remain in place during the negotiations.
