Georgia expands its touristic attraction
By Mushvig Mehdiyev
Georgia will soon have one more touristic destination as a large-scale touristic complex is planned to be built in the country's southern part.
The project worth of $30 million will be realized in Gardabani, a region 39 km south of the capital Tbilisi.
Temur Tabagari, a private entity, will invest in the construction of the complex on Mount Ialguja in Gardabani. The investor has purchased a 70 000 square meter non-agricultural land from the state for $273.000.
The new touristic complex will have 200 hotel rooms, eight cottages and a medical service facility.
The project is set to be implemented in two years to employ about 130 people in construction works, said Tabagari.
Meanwhile, Rixos Hotel, a five start luxury hotel chain is ready to welcome its first guests in the health and spa resort area of Likani in Georgia's Borjomi district.
Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, who attended the hotel's opening ceremony on January 14, said Rixos hotel will contribute to the economic growth of the region.
The investor companies behind the Rixos Hotel project are Georgia's JSC Partnership Fund, a state-owned shareholding company, and Kazmunaigaz Service Ltd, engaged in the oil and gas exploration and production services in Kazakhstan.
Over $40 million has been invested in the realization of the hotel project. The investor companies have the same share in the hotel's stakes with 50 percent for each.
"We managed to launch this hotel within a year. As I know, all the rooms are already reserved in the hotel. This is because Likani has always been famous as a balneological resort," Garibashvili said.
He noted that it is very important event that world's famous hotel brand entered Georgia to likely contribute the revival of the economy in Borjomi region.
