Turkmenistan OKs law on subsoil

The law on "Subsoil" was passed at the sixth session of the Turkmen Parliament, the government reported on December 23.
This law regulates the relations arising in connection with the geological study, use and protection of mineral resources, mining. It is aimed at the creation and expansion of the mineral resource base of the country, protecting the interests of the country and citizens of Turkmenistan in the sphere of subsoil use and subsoil users’ rights.
The law was designed given the universally recognized norms of international law and the key principles of economic and environmental policies. It creates the necessary conditions for the dynamic development of mining and other sectors of the domestic industry, broad international cooperation in this field, a statement says.
"It is designed to ensure the effective and rational use of the abundant natural resources of our country and to preserve them for future generations," the MPs said.
Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world on natural gas reserves. It is looking for new sales markets.
If we talk about the European direction, laying of a 300-kilometer gas pipeline across the Caspian Sea to the coast of Azerbaijan would be the most optimal route. It has the appropriate infrastructure for further export of Turkmen gas to Turkey and Europe.
