Kazakh, Swiss presidents discuss cooperation
Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev and his Swiss
counterpart Didier Burkhalter, who is on his first official visit
to the country, discussed bilateral cooperation at the meeting in
Astana on November 20.
During the meeting, the two leaders considered the issues of
strengthening cooperation in trade, economic, investment, cultural
and humanitarian spheres, the Kazakh presidency reported.
The parties also exchanged views on relevant issues of the
international agenda.
Moreover, Nazarbayev and Burkhalter, who chairs the OSCE, touched
upon the key aspects of the current activity of the
organization.
The Kazakh president noted that Switzerland is an important
economic partner of Kazakhstan in Europe.
Switzerland has invested about $12 billion in Kazakhstan since 2005
and about 50 Swiss companies and joint ventures are working in
Kazakhstan. Moreover the countries actively cooperate both in
foreign policy and on domestic issues, he said.
Burkhalter, in turn, noted that the bilateral relations between the
countries are at the high level and emphasized that there are a
number of promising areas for further cooperation.
