EU backs development of Georgia’s regions
The EU will allocate funds in the volume of 30 million euros to Georgia. The agreement was signed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy Johannes Hahn in Brussels.
The financial assistance will be delivered for the development of the regions of Georgia, including the implementation of economic and social support programs.
The allocation of financial assistance to Georgia is a recognition of the country’s success in its integration into Europe, Garibashvili said after signing the agreement.
"The allocated funds will be directed at improving the social status of the population,” he said. “It is very important for us, because every citizen of Georgia must feel that the European integration will enhance their well-being."
