Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili congratulated Ukrainian people on the democratic and transparent parliamentary elections.

"I welcome the second democratic elections to the parliament in Ukraine this year. Ukrainian people one more time supported the country's unity, European choice and unshakeable will of democratic development in Ukraine by fulfilling their civic duties. It proves the democratic and transparent process of elections and high activity of people," Garibashvili noted.

He went on expressing his support to the Ukrainian government and newly elected parliament in building a strong European state. "Unfortunately, not all residents in Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as in Donetsk and Lugansk were given an opportunity to vote. Despite that and hard conditions in the country, Ukraine has successfully held the elections," Garibashvili added.

Garibashvili believes that Ukraine will be able to cope with the challenges facing the country and take its place in the European family through international community's support and people's efforts.

Extraordinary elections to Ukraine's legislative body were held on October 26. After counting about 45.03 percent of the protocols according to party lists in elections to the Verkhovna Rada, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk's National Front party leads by gaining 21.62 percent of the votes, while Petro Poroshenko's Block of the president is a runner-up with 21.47 percent of the votes.
