Georgia tightens protection measures against Ebola

The Georgian government will take all possible measures to protect the population from the Ebola virus.

Georgian Minister of Labor, Health and Social Affairs David Sergeyenko made the remark on October 10.

He said that so far the Ebola virus has not been revealed in the country. "The country has an international protocol that envisages examining the citizens coming from high-risk countries," he said.

The Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia has killed more than 3,800 people, among them doctors and nurses caring for the sick. About 401 health-care workers have been infected in West Africa and 232 of them have died, the World Health Organization said this week.
