US lawmakers urge to aid Armenia
The pro-Armenia US congressmen have proposed to provide assistance
to Armenia suffering from the developments in Georgia.
The proposal was made during the hearings on US-Russia relations held in the House of Representatives Committee for Foreign Affairs.
Democratic member of the House Brad Sherman said that the latest developments in the South Caucasus adversely affected Armenia, expressing his strong concerns about the fact that the US administration turns a blind eye to the fact.
US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Asian affairs Daniel Frid said that the government would not support the proposal. He said that the US government was not going to allocate assistance to Armenia whose economy was damaged as a result of latest developments in Caucasus. Frid said that Armenia received aids from the United States within certain financial programs.*
