Kazakhstan needs legislative think-tank: official

By Aynur Jafarova

Kazakhstan needs to establish a legislative think-tank to ensure qualitative legislative activity in the country.

The remarks were made by Speaker of the Kazakh Majilis Kabibulla Dzhakupov at a joint session of the parliament chambers.

"One of the measures for improving the quality of legislative activities in Kazakhstan should be the establishment of the National Research Institute of Legislation," he said.

It is also advisable to set up such an institute under the government, gathering the best brainpower, professional practitioners, and progressive legal scholars on major areas of law in it, Dzhakupov added.

He highlighted promising areas in the legislative activity of MPs in the coming period, one of which is the adoption of the laws necessary for the efficient operation of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

"We need to adopt such laws and create such legal mechanisms, so that Kazakh people and economy can receive the maximum benefit from this union," the speaker said.

He believes that the new institute, as a uniform center of development of state and legal system, can be engaged with a higher quality in forming the concept of operated and controlled law-making in the country.
