Turkmenistan to form e-tax system

Turkmenistan is working to set up a "e-tax" system, according to a report by the Turkmen Economy Ministry.

The report notes that the establishment of the system was discussed at an official meeting. The measure is aimed at ensuring access to the electronic information database of the State Tax Service of Turkmenistan for arrears and calculations, accounting of daily operations, familiarization with alerts and appeals of the tax service.

"The taxpayers will be able to submit their tax declaration electronically with the help of the new system. Its establishment will generally help save time of the Tax Service employees, in particular in the implementation of tax audits in the workplace on the base of documents received electronically from taxpayers, banks and other organizations. It will also ensure diligent performance of inspectors' duties, "the report said.

It is expected that the new system will improve the administration system, unify and synchronize delivery of reporting which is provided to the tax authorities, and increase the responsibility of taxpayers to pay taxes.

Also, the samples of electronic tax cards were examined at the meeting of the Turkmen government.

Earlier it was reported that the introduction of electronic document will apply to all regions of Turkmenistan. It is expected that the new scheme will be organized in the fuel and energy complex, chemical and processing industries, construction, transport, telecommunications, medicine, textile industry and the agricultural sector.

All these measures should contribute to management operations, lead to improvement of the control of the material and technical part of the enterprises and increase the public services level.

Turkmenistan is in a transitional stage of development. An article on the transition to a market economy was included in the amended Constitution. The country occupies a key position in the region for the supply of natural gas, which is imported by China, Russia and Iran.

At the same time, in recent years, the Turkmen government adopted a policy of diversification of it economy. To this end, the country develops oil-and-gas processing, textile, cotton processing industry, production of construction materials and carpet weaving that are all major source of its export.
