Georgia's place in Euro-Atlantic space: minister
By Jamila Babayeva
Georgia's place is in the Euro-Atlantic space and Europe is ready to accept Georgia into its friendly family.
Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania made the remarks commenting on NATO PA's Declaration on Enlargement accepted on May 30.
The NATO Parliamentary Assembly called on the Alliance member states to consider moving Georgia closer to NATO at its summit in Wales in September by granting it a Membership Action Plan (MAP).
Alasania said the NATO PA's decision is very important.
"It reflects Europe's mood regarding the fact that Georgia's place is in Europe, in Euro-Atlantic space," he said. "This decision expresses the attitude of European countries and show that they are ready to accept Georgia into its friendly family."
Alasania hopes that the process will go in this direction.
