The Georgian government will launch the state program "Produce in Georgia" from June 1 upon the prime-minister's initiative.

The program is aimed at local production stimulation, establishing Georgian production lines, and developing of production-focused industries.

The program will be coordinated by the ministries of economy and agriculture. The program budget is 46 million lari ($26.302.516), of which 30 million ($17.153.815) will be used for production and processing of agricultural products, and 16 million ($9,148,701) for production of industrial products.

As Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said at the program presentation, Georgia has the potential to produce products itself and not to be dependent on imports.

"Our idea and decision is to resume Georgian production in every region, and then in every district and village, and support its growth. This will create new jobs, additional incomes and welfare for people", he stated.

He added the program "Produce in Georgia" must be a Georgian brand eventually "Made in Georgia".

"It is not so far when Georgian production will freely enter European market and the label "Made in Georgia" will have absolutely different implication," Garibashvili said.
