Georgia will sign the EU Association Agreement on June 27.

The news was announced by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili during the joint press conference held with the president of European Commission Herman Van Rompuy in Tbilisi on May 13.

"We welcome the EU effort to hasten sufficiently long and time-consuming procedures in order to sign the Association Agreement as soon as possible," he said. "Signing this most important agreement will move the cooperation between Georgia and EU to a quite new stage and will make the country's Euro Integration irreversible."

Garibashvili also explained that Georgia is ready to fulfill thescaly reforms outlined in the Association Agreement.

He further thanked the EU for allocating 30 million euros to Georgia within the program "more for more" and has stated that this amount will be addressed to modernization of public institutions involved in implementation of Association Agreement.

Garibashvili said during the meeting with the President of European Council, the importance of introduction of visa-free regime with EU was emphasized.

Van Rompuy, in his turn, emphasized the perspectives of strengthening relations between Georgia and EU.

"Signing the Association Agreement is important, but it is not the final stage in Georgia-EU relations," he said.

"We fully recognize European aspirations of Georgia. In the case of fulfilling conditions specified in the Association Agreement, we will have a common future. I appreciate the reforms implemented by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili," he added.
