Iran, P5+1 talks on final deal underway in Vienna
By Sara Rajabova
Iran and the six world powers are set to start the most sensitive stage of high-level talks over Tehran's nuclear energy program.
The fresh negotiation between Iran and P5+1 group is underway in the Austrian capital of Vienna.
After a working dinner banquet with participation of Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the European Union's foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton the negotiations will continue between the representatives of Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - the United States, China, Russia, France and Britain - plus Germany from May 14 to 16, Press TV reported.
This round of the negotiations is believed to be the most sensitive stage in the talks as negotiators are set to begin drafting the text of a comprehensive agreement aimed at fully resolving the decade-old dispute between the West and Iran over the latter's nuclear energy program.
The Iranian negotiating team, which is led by Zarif, headed to Vienna on May 13.
Zarif is accompanied by Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi, the Foreign Ministry's Director General for Political and International Affairs Hamid Ba'eedinejad and the Foreign Ministry's legal advisor Amir Hossein Zamaninia.
Iran and the six powers held the next round of the expert-level talks on Tehran's nuclear energy program in New York on May 6-7.
Araqchi has recently said Tehran and the P5+1 group will start writing the text of the deal in the upcoming talks.
He said the two sides plan to reach agreement over previously discussed issues in this round of talks.
Iran and the six world powers reached an interim nuclear deal in the Swiss city of Geneva on November 24, 2013, which came into force on January 20.
Under the Joint Plan of Action, the six powers agreed to provide Iran with some sanctions relief in exchange for Tehran agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities during a six-month period.
