Georgia, Israel to deepen relations
By Jamila Babayeva
Georgia and Israel discussed prospects for deepening bilateral and multilateral cooperation, as Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Deputy Chairman of Israeli Knesset and Secretary-General of the Israel Labor Party, Yehiel Bar on April 8.
The sides pointed out that the visa-free regime between the two countries will facilitate the expansion of relations in economic, tourism and trade spheres, the prime-ministers press service reported.
Georgia and Israel signed an agreement on a visa-free regime in
Tbilisi on November 18. The agreement will allow Georgian citizens
to visit Israel without a visa for 90 days.
The meeting also discussed the importance of educational and
cultural exchange programs and prospects of strengthening
inter-parliamentary relations.
Garibashvili noted the importance of such visits, as they
strengthen friendship and partnership between the two countries,
including at the levels of legislative bodies.
Assistant to the Deputy Chairman of Knesset Bostan Doron, Israeli
Ambassador to Georgia Yuval Fuchs, and First Deputy Speaker of the
Parliament of Georgia Manana Kobakhidze attended the meeting.
