Georgia and the World Tourism Organization (WTO) discussed the prospects of cooperation, particularly the creation of joint tourist products.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Secretary General of the WTO Taleb Rifai on April 7, the prime minister's press service reported.
Garibashvili thanked Rifai for his visit to Tbilisi, and expressed hope that mutual cooperation will soon enter a new phase.
"This is very important for Georgia," he added.
The sides discussed the trends of tourism development in Georgia and the recent reforms in tourism sphere, as well as the current investment projects in Georgia's resort-touristic zones.
It was mentioned that tourism is one of the fastest growing sector in Georgia's economy, and its development is a priority for the government.
The WTO put forward interesting initiatives on rural, urban, and ski tourism in Georgia.
"We believe that rural, urban, and mountain tourism can have a big impact on the economy, employment, and infrastructure development," Rifai said after the meeting.
Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Georgian ambassador to Spain Zurab Pololikashvili also attended the meeting.
